Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala was established by the State Legislature Act No. 19 of 2019 as the first Open University in the state of Punjab. The University endeavours to open new vistas for the education and employment seekers through its extensive network of several Learner Support Centre. Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Sarhali is one of their authorized Learner Support Centres with Centre Registration No. PSOU-23-GAC-200.
From November 2025 onward, the College has been upgraded to be the REGIONAL CENTRE OF JGND PSOU. Its registration number is PSOU-RC-Z-03. The LSCs of three districts viz. Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur come in the jurisdiction of this regional centre. The College Offers the following JGND PSOU Programmes / add-on courses / Master Degree Courses:

Several Other Certificate and Diploma Courses are Available.
Note: Each certificate programme is of 6 months and can be extended by another six months to obtain a diploma by paying an additional fee. All programmes can be done along with the student's regular study. Under-graduate Degree Programmes are of 3 years (6 semesters) duration. Master Degree Programmes are of two years (4 semesters) duration.
