Learning Outcome and Career Opportunities:
Students in arts and humanities have diverse subject options in languages, social sciences & economics. These can open up avenues in fields as diverse as journalism, marketing, advertising, banking sector, foreign trade and civil services. Computer Science and Mathematics with humanities widen the career opportunities. In fact, Bachelor of Arts is filled with immense career scope and numerous opportunities across the public and private sector. The vocational subjects equip the students for jobs/businesses after graduation. In addition to the professional benefits, obtaining a BA can have great personal advantages as well. BA programs present students with challenges that improve their creative thinking, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills, among others.
Subjects for BA:
* General English and General Punjabi are compulsory.
* Three elective subjects to be opted from these groups:
1. Elective English/Elective Punjabi/Elective Hindi
2. History/Mathematics
3. Computer science / Physical Education
4. Political Science
5. Economics / Sociology
6. Fashion Designing and Garment Construction (vocational subject available only for girls)
* Students from other states can opt for Basic Punjabi / Punjab History & Culture in lieu of Punjabi in BA-I as per university rules.
* A student will have to study the same subjects for three years taken in BA Sem-I.
* A student cannot opt for more than ONE PRACTICAL SUBJECTS in BA Sem-I. However, with fashion designing vocational subject, another practical subject can be opted.
* Students will have to qualify a paper of Drug Abuse in BA Semester-I and Environmental Studies in BA Sem-III.
B.Sc. Non Medical
Eligibility: 10+2 in Science group with Mathematics and 40% marks in aggregate
Learning Outcome and Career Opportunities:
This course comprises the study of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics besides compulsory English and Punjabi/Basic Punjabi.
After the completion of this course students have the option to go for higher studies i.e. M.Sc. in their subject of interest and then do research work in their respective fields.
The course helps to develop scientific temper. After the completion of the course, students also have the option to join Indian Civil Services, UPSC, CSE as IAS,IFS, IPS, SSC etc.
B.Sc Non-Medical students Can go for any of the following jobs: Lecturer, Technical Writer, Editor, Chemist, Research Analyst, Researcher, Scientist, Consultant.
They can join higher studies in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics.
B.Sc. Computer Science
Eligibility: 10+2 in Science group with Mathematics and 40% marks in aggregate
Learning Outcome and Career Opportunities: The study comprises Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science besides compulsory English and Punjabi / Basic Punjabi.
Students can pursue an attractive profession in computer science with a bachelor’s degree. The knowledge of theory, design, and development of software and software systems offer a number of opportunities. After earning this degree, students have two main options viz. they can either pursue a master’s degree in the subject of their interest or enrol in a professional training programme to enter the specialized fields. Professional training courses include programming, data analysis, digital marketing, business analytics, data visualisation, and computer system analysis, software testing etc.
Graduates of this field can find employment in a variety of fields including educational institutions, forensic science, cyber crime prevetion, software development, biotechnology, the petrochemical industry, and many more. Technological advancements have recently made software engineering one of the greatest career options and several roles like web developer, mobile app developer, software developer, web designer, application analyst, scientist, researcher etc.
B.Sc. Economics
Eligibility: 10+2 with 40% marks in aggregate
Learning Outcome and Career Opportunities: The course comprise the study of Economics, Mathematics / Q.T., Computer Science besides Compulsory English and Punjabi/Basic Punjabi.
There are many career options available to B.Sc. (Economics) graduates including roles in finance, consulting, marketing, and policy analysis, as well as in industries such as healthcare, planning, data analysis, manufacturing and international commerce etc. Higher education in the subject of interest is also a good option leading to academic roles, researcher etc.
B.C.A.
Eligibility: 10+2 with 40% marks in aggregate

The degree helps interested students in setting up a sound academic base for an advanced career in Computer Applications. The course of BCA includes database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, web technology and languages such as C, C++, HTML, Java etc.
